“I am a wife, a daughter, a mother, a friend, a coach, a team leader, a Christian, a football fanatic, a blogger, a connector, a crafter, a Weight Watcher Lifetime member, and YOUR Thirty One Consultant.” Yes, I wear all of these hats. Some days I feel like I am wearing them all at once while other days I get to wear them one at a time.
Thirty One changed my life in so many ways – not just with additional finances but at the core of who I am. Okay, so maybe that is a bit dramatic but it did give me back my life. When I joined Thirty One in 2011, I was a hobbiest to say the least. Oh sure, I heard all of those stories about women who were successful BUT I had doubts. I had never really done direct sales before and I had a GREAT job. Okay, so I was a workaholic – on call 24/7, a 4-hour roundtrip commute four days a week, COO of a non-profit with 14 programs and a staff. On most days, I loved my job but I longed to make my own hours and only work part-time – just like all of those women I read about online.
So, I signed up. I told my sponsor that I wasn’t going to do home parties – I mean who had time. I would do vendor events only and use the discount since I loved everything in the catalog. Well, my kit came and I started sharing it with the girls at work and at vendor events. Within 6 months, I had a team! REALLY!!! I still wasn’t doing home parties and I was still working crazy hours. When I started having some health issues, hubby said it was time to slow down. He said “why not give that bag thing a chance?”. Really? Okay!
Fast forward to today – 3 years later with a team of about 35 people, working maybe 15 hours a week at something I love, meeting new people and selling bags. Okay, it really is more than just about the bags. It is about connecting with other women who have dreams and goals and helping them to obtain them. It is about finding a confidence that I lost so many years ago when I was that awkward 8th grader trying to find her way in a new neighborhood. It is about strengthening my relationship with God with the support of my Thirty One sisters. It is about believing that I CAN do this despite all the doubters. It is about being able to set goals and achieve them. It is about connecting with women and sharing this gift called Thirty One.
