Are You Spinning Your Wheels

goals trivia

Happy Monday!  Yes, I am perky on a Monday morning without an abundance of coffee. Call me crazy but I like Mondays.

I am excited to be starting an online retreat this week with the AMAZING Britt Bolnick owner of In Arms Coaching.  Each time I finish one of these virtual retreats, I am ready to kick butt in my business.  I am particularly excited about this one because we are focusing this week on: Stop Spinning Your Wheels With Mis-Aligned (or not enough!) Clients.

As a “bag” lady, I see everyone as a customer/ client.  I mean who doesn’t need a bag, right?  From purses to totes to thermals, we have them all at Thirty One.  As Thirty One returns to their “gifts” roots, the customers change a little bit.  I know that my customers have been buying gifts all along but now we have a broader base of products and with that comes a broader base of customers.  I don’t want to leave any customers behind.

Before every virtual retreat, Britt asks us pre-homework questions.  My favorite 3 are these because they really make me think about my next steps:

1. What isn’t working for you in your business right now?

For me, what is not working is the lack of a full calendar for the summer months and the a steady flow of new customers.

2. What do you want SO badly for your business or work that you’re NO LONGER willing to settle for NOT having it?

An action plan for consistent sales, parties (home or catalog/online) and new recruits that will expand my business.

3. What would the ripple effect be OF you having it? How would it affect your life, relationships, even your health?

Growing my business (increase in sales and recruits) would mean a consistent paycheck every month.  Then I could quit my part-time job. Quitting my part-time job would give me more time on the weekends for family and friends.  More time with family and friends would help me to connect with more people to share the gift of Thirty One.  The consistent income would relieve the stress of paying credit card bills.  Less stress would allow me to smile more which would make hubby happy which would help our relationship/ marriage.  In addition, less stress would allow me to focus more on maintaining my goal weight which would make me feel better.  Expanded business = happy, healthy & wealthy Hope.

I love my Thirty One business.  I love that it pays my bills every month.  I love that I get to meet new people and share the gift of Thirty One with them.  I am transparent with you when I struggle because having your own business whether a storefront or direct sales isn’t always rainbows and sunshine.  There is some rain along the way.  You need to be willing to work past that to move forward in your business.

What about you?  How would you answer these questions?  Be truthful with yourself.  You know what isn’t working in your business.  Own it so that you can figure out the best way to move past it. I would love to hear from you.

Have a ThirtyOne-derful day!

A Facebook Retreat

When you think of a “retreat”, what do you envision?  Massages? Healthy food? Relaxing? Quiet time?  Now what if it was a Facebook Retreat?  Thinking it isn’t possible, right?  The truth is that I actually attended one last week – Authentically Audacious Virtual Retreat: Fall In Love With Your Biz…Again put together by the AMAZING Britt Bolnick from In Arms Coaching.

Was it all warm and fuzzy? NO!  Did she ask tough questions? YES!  Did she make me think? YES!  Do I feel energized? YES!  Am I ready to tackle the obstacles in my business? YES! All of the things that I didn’t think would be in a retreat.  She made me think about and dig deep.  Asking some of the “age old” questions but in a way that made me look at things differently.

I first met Britt at an ETTM Conference last October.  Her story touched my heart so whenever I get the chance, I am ready to soak up all she has to offer.  This past week, had me digging a little deeper, thinking about my business in ways that I had never thought of before.

If you are in direct sales (or any business), people are always asking you “What is your Why?”, right?  For some it is easy but for others it is hard to dig deep and really figure that out.  There are the answers of “financial freedom”, “girl time”, “to pay for kids school”, etc but what if you were to dig a little deeper.  These are the the two questions that Britt started us off with:

What do you want SO badly for your business or work that you’re NO LONGER willing to settle for NOT having it?

What would the ripple effect be OF you having it? How would it affect your life, relationships, even your health?

I LOVE the ripple effect because for someone like me who struggles with that emotional connection to their “why” seeing how it plays out in all areas of my life makes it easier to connect.  If you are feeling stuck and need that emotional connection, take time to answer these two questions honestly, from your heart.  What is the result for you?

Are you seeing the BIG picture? The one beyond the immediate goal/ need, to how this will effect your entire life or the lives of those around you.  Let me share with you my ripple:

Consistent sales would mean consistent income which would mean paying down personal credit card debt which would mean financial freedom and the ability to provide luxuries (like trips) for hubby and I. All of this would mean no stress and less worry for hubby.

It helps me to visual my vision.  To see myself along with hubby and my family enjoying the fruits of my labors.   This is what excites me.  Okay, I know that paying off a credit card should (and probably will) give me some excitement.  My vision needs to be tied to emotions to motivate me.  When my Thirty One NED Hope Shortt asked me to describe how it would feel to walk across the stage as a new Director to the waiting arms of my daughter and hubby – it made it real.  Every time I think of that night, I cry.  This is the emotion that I need now to keep my SPARKLE in my business.

I challenge you to do the ripple effect for your business and your why.  Share how it felt or if it helps you on your journey.

Have a ThirtyOne-derful day!

Regroup And Recharge

regroup-recharge-and-reorient

Happy Monday!  It is the start of the holiday WEEK!  Yes, I said – week.  Thanksgiving may only be one day and the meal itself may last only a few hours but as of today, most of us begin preparing with gusto.  Maybe you are having family come in for the holiday.  Maybe you are going away.  Maybe it is just going to be a quiet time for you and your hubby.  Whatever YOUR holiday time looks like – take some time for YOU!

Taking time for me is something that I don’t do very often.  I have always placed myself last on the list of priorities in any given day or week.  As a result, a few pounds have crept on, my sparkle has dulled a little and I am content to stand in the back watching everyone else succeed.  Not good for moving my business forward or for my personal life.

If I learned one thing last week at the Authentically Audacious Virtual Planning Retreat, it is that the ripple effect starts with ME!    And when momma’s not happy, no one is happy!  Right??  Then I listened to a great video from my business coach – Alisha.  Guess what she talked about?  Scheduling a power hour a day for ME and 3 hours of me time per week.  No need to feel guilty about taking the time because if I don’t, my whole world suffers.

I LOVE being self-employed.  It has lots of benefits but one of the major downfalls is that we forget to take care of ourselves.  I love the analogy about putting on your oxygen mask FIRST then your kids.  The truth is, if we don’t take care of ourselves, the rest of our life will suffer.  I get grumpy!  Negative Nellie and Doubtful Debbie take up residence in my head.  As a result, nothing gets done.

So, I made a HUGE step last week and went back to Weight Watchers.  I know, I was at Lifetime and then I let go.  I stopped taking the 90 minutes a week for me.  I stopped tracking every morsel that I put in my mouth.  I thought “I got this”.  The result, a few pounds over goal and I am not a happy camper.  The ripple effect has been awful.  This is the first step to taking care of me and getting my sparkle back.

Here are some other ideas, you may want to try:

  • Step away from the computer and take a walk OUTSIDE!
  • Watch a funny show on TV or a movie
  • Work in the garden
  • Get a mani-pedi
  • Listen to some music and dance around the living room.

It doesn’t have to be expensive … the point is that you need to recharge your battery and believe it or not, everyone will WIN!  What if you started every morning with ME time?  Would that change your outlook on the day?  Would you be more productive?

I know that thought of getting up earlier makes you cringe.  I am already up at 6AM so I am going to set the alarm for 5:30AM to start.  Once the body adjusts then it will be back to 5AM and my morning power hour.  In the meantime, I will do a power half hour in the morning and save my exercise for the evening.  At least exercising is on the agenda for a change.

12 steps for self care

What do you do for yourself to recharge your battery?

Unlock the Cage

Bird cage w-butterflies

Lately when my morning devotions arrive, they seem to be focused on the same thing – changing my thought process.  I am beginning to feel like the baseball bat is being swung and I keep missing the ball (or the point).  So in an effort to get my attention, God keeps repeating the message in a variety of different ways.

I participated in a Virtual Planning Boot Camp this week with about 100 other women courtesy of Britt Bolnick.  I was amazed to find that I am not alone in my thought process.  On the outside, all of these women are successful in their business but are still feeling stuck and unable to plan.  Their fears and negative thoughts are keeping them stuck – just like me.  During the week long journey, Britt helped us to deal with our inner voices – the negative ones, learn from them so that we could move on. I so wish she lived closer so we could go for coffee once in awhile.  I think she is the kick in the butt that I need to keep me on track.

The truth that rang out for all of us was that we need to change our way of thinking.  We need to “unlock the cage” that keeps the positive thoughts locked away and blocking us from moving forward.  How is that some women are so confident and able to glide effortless forward in their business and personal lives?  Then there are those of us who struggle with negative thinking and get stuck, why?  The truth is that all of us have negative thinking at one time or another, the way we handle it or re-route them is different in each of us.  I love this suggestion:

When we’re down, sad or hopeless, let’s take inventory of our thoughts. When we find ourselves jumping to conclusions, doling out guilt trips on others or replaying arguments in our mind, let’s consciously change our thinking. When I get in a funk, often it’s because I’ve focused too much on what’s bad. The apostle Paul advises us in our key verse, Philippians 4:8, to think about things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy.

The next time you’re fighting negative thoughts, “unlock your cage” of positive thoughts by remembering you are a child of God. Take the negative thoughts and LOCK them away while you replace them with the positive – God’s holy word.   When we align our thoughts with God’s, His peace, which passes all understanding, will keep our hearts and mind through Christ Jesus.

Have a ThirtyOne-derful day!

What if You had No FEAR

That was a question that we were asked during the ETTM 360 Conference by Britt Bolnick.  She got my attention when she said that she typically coached in jeans & boots or jeans & flip flops.  She didn’t dress to fit the image of what others thought she should look like – she was herself.

What if you had NO FEAR?  I know you probably think “I don’t have any fear” but the truth is for many of us there is a fear that lurks in the background.  Maybe it is a traumatic incident that changed your life.  Maybe it is a result of bullying or verbal abuse.  Maybe you don’t even know what IT is.  You just know that you are stuck in your business and you want to move forward.

You have heard it all before – connect with you your why!  Sometimes that is easier said than done, right?  Your vision is your vision for the world (you know the BIG picture).  For me – I want to make a difference in the lives of women who are struggling personally and financially.  I always said if I took my own advice, I would be a ROCKSTAR.  The truth is I am unable to move forward in my vision because I am stuck with some old baggage.  As a result, I don’t see myself as others see me.  So that stifles my vision.

When we talk about mission which is the other foundation – it is about how I connect with my mission.  Makes sense but I always wonder how to figure that out.  Crazy considering that I used to write mission statements when I was in the non-profit world and it came easy to me.

One of the things to being successful according to Britt is that you need to “Know your value.”  How do people benefit from what I do?  Be crystal clear with 10 – 20 benefits.  I don’t know about you but some days this is easier said then done, right?  One of the first things for me is to make a list of the 10 – 20 benefits on how people can benefit from what I do.  What about you, do you have a list of benefits?  The question is do you truly believe in those benefits or is something holding you back?

I realized that one of my biggest blocks to sharing the gift of Thirty One is not that I don’t believe in the company or the opportunities.  It is directly related to whether or not that person will be successful.  I play the “what if” game in my head.  What if they join and they don’t find all of the same benefits that I have found?  What will they think of me?  What if they join and never book a party?  What if they join and don’t make any money?  Yes, I am crazy but these are some of the things that I worry about.  Time to let those things go…

The truth is, if I offer the gift of Thirty One (or substitute in your business/product) and do everything that I can to help them be successful and they aren’t, do I really need to own that?  NO!

Time to make my list of 20 benefits from being a hostess to joining this AWESOME company.  My goal is “NO FEAR”, what is yours?

Have a ThirtyOne-derful day!
