Do You LOVE What You Do?

Do you know what day it is?  YUP, it is HUMP DAY!  For many, you are DREADING the rest of the work week.  Are you already longing for the weekend?  I LOVE Wednesdays (even Mondays).  The truth is…. I don’t mind going to work.  I am a recovering work-a-holic BUT when you LOVE what you do, it is really work?  I have talked about the struggles I have over the last few months to find what I truly LOVE again.  Living life on life’s terms has  been a struggle and has me rethinking what it is I really LOVE to do.

I saw on a blog a checklist for figuring out if you truly LOVE what you do… so I decided to give it a shot and see what happens.  Why don’t you try it with me?

First upNever a dull day!  Okay, my days have gotten a little dull. MS has caused me to struggle in doing things but on those days when I am focused…. WATCH OUT!  I tend to have so many ideas going through my head, I tire myself out!  LOL!  The ideas are great but I just can’t seem to put them into gear.  Last minute parties – of course.  Last minute fundraiser – wouldn’t miss doing it.  BUT now I have added the love of creating angels.  The joy an angel can bring to someone as they share a story of someone who has passed is something I treasure.  The creativity gets my blood flowing!

Meetings? Love them!   I love leading discussions to help others grow their business.  I do struggle when there are multiple conversations going on at the same time – my brain goes into overload.  I feel like the teacher telling students “only person can talk at a time”. LOL!  So, do I LOVE them? No, but they do get my juices flowing.

Inspiration is around the corner.  Hubby said something the other night “You see the possibility of angels in everything” and it’s true.  I had a friend give me some jewelry pieces to combine and make an angel for her and I’m over the moon excited.  Don’t get me wrong, I still LOVE Thirty One.  I LOVE being around other Thirty One consultants who are smart, confident, funny, giving and dedicated.  They each inspire me in their own way to be better and to reach for the stars.

Work = part of life.  You enjoy life and work. You feel alive and joyful not just at home but also at your desk. When you love your work, it’s a part of your life.

I think this says it all.

S0 much to explore!  When you love your work, it’s like peeling an onion. There are always more layers to discover and explore. When you hate your work it’s also like peeling an onion – but all you find are more tears.

Are you discovering or are you shedding tears?

You hardly ever look at the clock.  This is definitely me.  I can get lost in my office working on my blog, crafting angels, creating ideas and planning the future.  You know the saying “time flies when you are having fun” well it does for me!

So what is the result of this check list for YOU?  Do you LOVE what you do or are you just working to pay the bills?  Don’t get me wrong, I do the same thing – I mean, the bill collectors want their money but I enjoy all of it.  I LOVE the combination of my Thirty One business and my angels.  Want to know more about my Thirty One business and how it might be able to change YOUR life, just ask.  Not only do you get paid BUT there are some AWESOME perks.

If you don’t LOVE what you do, maybe it is time for a change.  Life is too short to wait for “it” to come so you can retire and enjoy life.  Why not enjoy it NOW!

Have a ThirtyOne-derful day!

Faith – Take Action

Sundays are again for me a day of rest and reflection (or at least that is my goal) .  It is a time for me to recharge my battery for the week ahead – mentally, physically and spiritually.

The other night, I was asked “what do you have faith in?”.  The question was asked during a discussion about the medical profession and how we have faith in others yet little faith in those who love us.  It reminded me of a devotion from one of my Celebrate and Connect meetings. Thirty One’s bi-monthly consultant meeting/ training.

Hebrews 11:1

“Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not yet seen.”

What does faith mean to you?

  • Faith in Electric Company. Proof? Flip the switch! Faith confirmed. Can you all agree with me unless you FLIP the switch it’d not going anywhere for you?
  • Faith in the Water Department? Proof? Turn the nozzle! Faith confirmed.  Can you all agree unless you turn on the faucet water will not drip from the spout?
  • Faith in your Car Keys? Proof? Turn the key in the ignition! Faith confirmed.  Can you all agree unless you put the key in the ignition and turn the key your car will not go anywhere?
  • Faith in that alarm clock? Proof? It woke you up this morning! Faith confirmed.  Can you all agree with me unless you SET the alarm, it will not wake you up?

Faith without works is dead. We can all have faith…but unless you work to get what you want…it’s dead.

I ENCOURAGE you all: Let’s FLIP our SWITCH. TURN ON our Faucets. Put the KEY in the Ignition. & SET our alarm clocks.  We CAN GET INTO ACTION in our business and make our dreams come alive.

God has a plan for you and no matter who your Higher Power is or what you call him – you need to do the footwork.  What does faith mean to you?  What do you have faith in?  Are you ready to follow the plan of your Higher Power even if you don’t know what the results will be?

As for me, I will reflect on my faith today so that I can hopefully listen and act on God’s plan for me in the upcoming week.  Rest, Recharge and get ready for the week…

Have a ThirtyOne-derful day!

Second Half of Year Success

CnC 10 13

Throwback Thursday is about succeeding…The picture was taken at one of my early Celebrate and Connect meetings.  These are bi-monthly meetings that I am honored to be able to host as a Director with Thirty One.  This AMAZING group of women came to learn how to be successful in their business.  I love that I can call many of these women friends, today.  We are more than just a purse thing!

Can you believe it?  I was a little overwhelmed when I saw this picture of the end of the year dates.  What kind of year have you had?  Honestly, mine has been filled with challenges.  I’m not going to sugar coat things, I have struggled in many areas of my life.  I have talked about starting over, hitting reset and doing things differently.  The truth is, I fall back into the same mindset.  What I realized is that as much as I dislike structure, I need it for my business.  I don’t just mean office hours, I mean a daily check list of things to do.  A daily push to step out of my comfort zone and be accountable.

That being said, I found some great tips courtesy of JulieAnn Jones to ensure that we achieve the goals that we set at the beginning of the year.  I want to challenge you to take a few hours and to look at your own business (or life).  Okay, if not a few hours at least some time to work through the lists.

The first step is to assess where you are, I don’t mean the should of, would of, could of things.  Let’s evaluate our results to date – the GOOD things.

List #1 – Write down all that you’ve accomplished so far this year and celebrate your successes! Way to go!

List #2 – Write down everything you still want to accomplish before the end of the year and create a plan for getting there.

List #3 – Make a list (as long as you can) of every single thing for which you’re grateful up to this point in 2015.

Focus on that gratitude for at least a few minutes every day for the rest of the year.  I actually have an alarm on my phone that rings and asks me “What are you grateful for today?”.  Some days, I sit and write it out; other days, I just speak it out to the universe.  It is important for me to stay positive.  Yes, I squirreled!

Back to the lists…. Now, that you know what you have accomplished up to this point, let’s look at where you want to be before December 31st. You are going to make three more lists for this:

List #4 – What did you plan to accomplish at the beginning of the year that you’ve haven’t gotten done yet? Make a list of at least three to five concrete goals.

List #5 – What ACTION steps can you begin to consistently take RIGHT NOW and for the rest of the year that will bring about those goals (be SPECIFIC)?

List #6 – What obstacles might get in the way of you taking those actions and how can you avoid them? Planning ahead can make a HUGE difference in your results.

Whether your goal is to lose weight, find a new job, book parties, sell a certain amount of products or grow your team – by writing these lists, you will be able to set a plan in motion to help you reach your goals.

What did your evaluation and plan look like at this mid-way point? I’d love to hear from you in the comments below.

Have a ThirtyOne-derful day!

Getting Into Action

Happy Sunday!  This has been a busy 12 days and I am grateful that today I get to rest, relax and recharge.  Not only do I get to go to church to recharge spiritually but I also get to host a Thirty One Celebrate and Connect meeting.  I am sure you are thinking – how is that resting but having these bi-monthly meetings with fellow Thirty One consultants helps me to recharge and re-energize.

While preparing for this month’s meeting, I started to reflect on the theme – Getting into Action.  Then I found this posting on Facebook from a friend:

Sisters, do not be surprised when God uses you for the kingdom. Do not be surprised when His plans for you are greater than the plans you imagine for yourself. Saying yes to the Lord goes far beyond logistics. Its goes beyond a block in the schedule, a note in our planners. Its reaches beyond gifts we feel comfortable using, beyond a box that our status and culture and insecurities would like us to live within.

WOW!  This is definitely not where my thoughts were headed when I thought about getting into action.  Getting into action for me meant taking control – WRONG!  I need to be reminded on a daily basis that I am not in control.  For when I am in control, FEAR tends to take over with Negative Nellie and her friend Doubtful Debbie showing up for a party.  It is definitely not a Girl’s Night Out Thirty One style. For my actions when not in God’s plans create chaos.  Of course, when I am in God’s plan and I have no clue what is going to happen, I have to admit that I do get a little nervous.  As I was writing this blog, I got a “Message from God Wants You to Know”:

When you feel fear, have the courage to acknowledge it and it will begin to lose its power. It is only when you pretend it isn’t there, that it grows.

Okay, so I am getting the message.  My ACTION steps this week will include acknowledging my fears about finances and the future of my business.  Satan has a field day when I allow FEAR to step in especially in these areas of my life.  Am I the only one?

In the words of Scott Monroe, Chief Brand Officer with Thirty One, “Every day, end up a little bit better person at the end of the day, then when you woke up”.

As you reflect on the past week and plan for the upcoming one, what will your action steps be?  Will you be in control or will you let God be in control admitting your fears either quietly to him or verbally to your closest confident?   Will you end each day a little bit better person then when you started?

Get into Action

Sundays for me (or at least that is my goal) is a day of rest and reflection.  It is a time for me to recharge my battery for the week ahead – mentally, physically and spiritually.

On Friday night, I had the opportunity to co-host a Celebrate and Connect (Thirty One’s bi-monthly consultant meeting/ training).  There I was able to connect with old friends while making some new ones.    This is part of the devotion that I started with as our theme was “Get into Action”

  • Faith in that alarm clock? Proof? It woke you up this morning! Faith confirmed.  Can you all agree with me unless you SET the alarm, it will not wake you up?
