What Does Fun Mean to You?

Guess what day it is???? That’s right, it is HUMP day which means it is WOOHOO Wednesday.

I LOVE to celebrate!  I have found that by celebrating at least 3 things EVERY DAY, my perspective on life has changed.  I no longer hang out for hours with Negative Nellie or Doubtful Debbie.  I SQUASH those inner gremlins and send them on their way.

It has been a rough two months for me – health wise and with the JOB.  So I want to do some celebrating of things that are FUN!  When was the last time that you treated yourself to ANYTHING?  Maybe it was a bubble bath or that special coffee or maybe it was just sitting and watching the sunrise/sunset.  Maybe it was playing in the park with the kids?

Think about it… what is your idea of fun?  I have to be honest, for a LONG time I wasn’t sure that I even knew what FUN was.  As a busy working single mom, fun was doing things with Belinda.  Then the empty nest syndrome snuck in.  Left my full-time job, Belinda moved to North Carolina now it is just hubby and I.  We are creating our own NEW ideas of what fun is.  Sometimes we have FUN together and then there are times that we do things apart.

I absolutely LOVED Eryka Peskin‘s definition of fun: “By fun I want you to be frivolous. I want you to do things that have no other value other than making you laugh or feel good.”

Life is filled with LOTS and LOTS of stuff to do and it isn’t long before we push aside things that are fun.  I know it is intentional – life gets in the way.  Now, I know that some of you enjoy cleaning or cooking or running with the kids – to you that is fun.  But at the end of the day are you energized?  I mean what could re-cahrge you more than some basic fun.

I know that fun varies from person to person BUT I want you to figure out what’s FUN for you, do it, and celebrate it!  We are so worthy of having FUN!

Here are my three things to CELEBRATE having fun:

I celebrate that I spent an hour just working on a puzzle which at that moment I thought was a total waste of time BUT it was fun.

I celebrate that hubby and I watched a movie (I don’t even remember the name) but it was so dumb that I laughed out loud.  It felt good to laugh at something so silly.

I celebrate hanging out with friends.  Just talking and laughing over everything and nothing.

What are you going to do to have FUN today?  Share it with us so that we can all CELEBRATE together.

Have a ThirtyOne-derful day!

Unclutter Your Life

Are You Bored with Life?

When was the last time you had a lazy Sunday afternoon?  You know the kind where everything is done and you are not quite sure what to do with yourself.  If you are a mom, you are thinking, “REALLY? This never happens”.  Okay, so maybe you are feeling like the ONLY things you do anymore are the things you have to do…. run the kids, cook meals, grocery shop, go to work and the list goes on, right?  Maybe you are just bored with your life, going through the motions.  I can attest to the fact that I have been there!

But what about your happiness, your need for inspiration, your absolute requirement for fun and excitement?

Did you put all of those things on the back burner?  Wouldn’t it be GREAT to have just ONE fun thing every month that is just for YOU.  I would say more often but that might scare you away. You can include the rest of the family too but this would be something that brings you pure happiness.

Here 5 ideas that could be a lot of fun and leave you feeling ready to conquer the next hurdle.

1. Host a Potluck Party: No, this should not cause you more stress.  Friends are not coming to see your how clean your house is, they are coming to enjoy your company.  Invite only people you love who make you laugh and you know will leave you with a warm glow at the end of the night.

2. Take a drive with no set destination: Pick a timeframe, pack appropriately, take a friend if you’d like, and do it the old-fashioned way – see where the road takes you. Make plenty of stops along the way, talk to people, and just be spontaneous! This brings back so many memories of Sunday drives with my parents.  Just heading out for the day, no plan just a picnic packed and maybe a general direction.  I am sure they picked a general area, got us there and then we wondered the roads stopping at little shops & enjoyed the sights.  We like to do this when we are in North Carolina ’cause Jersey is just too crowded anymore.

3. Pick up your old hobby.  What was it? Do you even remember? Painting, drawing, music, playing chess, or underwater basket-weaving, it doesn’t matter. Just do something you used to love. I would have gone back to playing the piano but alas no piano.  So, I went back to crafting angels.

4. Help Out. There’s truly nothing like the feeling of helping someone in need. Whether you choose to volunteer, give some change to a homeless person, or donate your used items to charity, it doesn’t matter. What does matter is that what you do gives you that glow inside.  This is a great way to get the whole family to #shareyourgifts.

5. Watch Mother Nature ‘Cause she’s awesome. Start paying attention to everything – the clouds in the sky, the change of seasons, the flower, the moon and the ocean waves.  I have really started to appreciate the beauty of the sky while I am driving.  It is also a great stress reliever when you are sitting at a red light.

If you’re bored with life, it’s a sign that you need to do something different. Start today!  Share with us what you are going to do today!

Have a ThirtyOne-derful day!

Core Values

When I began my journey with Thirty One, I thought core values were things like “freedom, love, family, spirituality, self-love, honesty, loyalty, respect, commitment, etc.”.

I don’t know about you but being in business for myself I feel like I am doing it all which we usually are, right?  We want it all, right?  A successful business, awesome relationships, big bank accounts, and good health.  When we don’t get it all, we wonder why?  I never really thought about aligning my values up with what I wanted in life.  I know, crazy, right?

Over the last four years, Thirty One’s Core values have become a part of me.  I apply that particular principles to my business willing myself to actually OWN it.  Can you tell that it doesn’t always work?  Here are those core values:

Authentic    Courageous Curious Flexible Fun-Loving Gracious Hard-Working PassionatePurposeful

The TWO that I would love to say is ALWAYS me are: Passionate and Purposeful.  The truth is that when I ask people which one they see as me, 95% of the time they say FUN LOVING and 5% of the time it is Passionate!  Really?  Can you tell that I am shocked?  Yes, I want to have fun with my business.  The truth is that I never really embrace the “fun-loving” side for fear of what people will think.

Alright so there are times when I don’t worry about it – National Conference, Celebrate and Connect, Premieres and anything that is specifically Thirty One.  Why? Because everyone else is in the “pink bubble” and understands the excitement and craziness.  I wonder if the REAL world would think I am bordering on crazy and run in the opposite direction or call for a straight jacket.

I wonder what would happen if I truly “owned” those two core values?  I mean not worry about what people think.  Have fun? Enjoy the moments instead of always planning for the next thing.  Would everything align?

What do you think?  Which of these 12 Core Values best describes you?

I Found My Brand

I have been hearing talk about “branding” for almost a year now (thank you Vanessa Coppes) and I am still trying to figure it all out.  I have read countless articles about it, watched videos and have been trying to narrow down my niche.  I have always wondered WHY I need a brand?  Can I tell you that the light bulb came on during a conversation with my hubby.  Okay, so sometimes I am a little slow…

We were talking about my business and I was asking him for input on some new ideas.  He simply said “It is always a party with you”.  You should use “party with Hope” as a tagline.  WOW!  That kind of summed things up for me.  When we talked about Thirty One’s Core Values at a recent meeting – I was unanimously FUN LOVING!

The thing is, I would have never thought of myself that way.  I let that side come out to play at parties, and a training meetings but I have always wondered what people thought of me (you know the people pleaser) so I would hold back sometimes.  I have made the decision to EMBRACE the FUN-side of me and brand it!

So I headed to GoDaddy.com where I immediately set up a forward page for “www.partywithhope.com” to my Thirty One home page.  This is so much easier to say or for people to type in a web browser.  When I typed that into google – after some Wickepedia things – my blog kept coming up.  WOOHOO!

My 30-second introduction has become “I am an Entrepreneur and Blogger that CELEBRATES – ENCOURAGES – REWARDS women with a Girl’s Night Out! I offer fun, fashionable and affordable organizing products for all aspects of your life”.  I say that with confidence because I LOVE what I do whether it is working with my hostess, my customers or my team.  This always leads into a discussion about Thirty One and my blog!  People are interested and want to know more – isn’t that what a brand is supposed to do?

In direct sales, we are always asked our “why” and as many of you know, I have struggled with finding the deep emotional WHY for me.  Of course, we all want financial freedom, the ability to make our own schedules along FREE products and trips but that doesn’t stir the emotions in me.  I know, crazy right?  What I truly want is to help other women have fun while earning a great income that supports their why, whatever that may be – additional income, girl time, etc.

Now, on to the next step of branding….getting some pictures to go along with my tag line, new business cards and get ready to   HAVE FUN!
