How To Make Today A Success

Happy  (almost) Friday!  The long holiday weekend is just around the corner, the kids are getting ready to go back to school and we are at month’s end….. so I wanted to talk about being a success.

Success means something different to everyone.  My definition has changed over the last 6 months both personally and professionally.  Yes, there are still days when I wonder if I am a success but most days I feel pretty successful, content where I am for the moment..  Being a self-employed success takes on a different meaning then it did when I was working for someone else.  I was blessed to have worked at various non-profit agencies where I felt like I was a success (at least 95% of the time).  As we hit the reset button and get back to a new routine for the Fall months, I want to make sure every day is successful.

Here are some tips which might help you:

#1 Start the day with 10 minutes of inspirational thoughts, readings, music, or meditations.

I start my morning with several devotions and a few moments of silent contemplation.  I know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day but for ME, if I don’t start my day with some inspirational words – it is all down hill from there.  Of course, I need some coffee along with the inspiration.  Quiet time allows my head to “de-fog” and to stomp out any nasty inner gremlins who want to ruin my day.

#2  Remind yourself of the deeper “why” of your work.

Your “why” should be front and center.  I have a vision board which helps me stay focused.  Does it work every day?  NO but on most days it is a great motivator when I am getting a little side tracked or spending too much time on Facebook.

#3 Put on a smile (even it you don’t feel it).

When you smile at someone, don’t they usually smile back?  Some days this is tough for me.  Negative Nellie and Doubtful Debbie visit and the best way to get them to leave is to SMILE and gaze at my vision board.  Then I get back to work…

#4 Keep your conversation positive.

What do you say when someone asks “How are you today?”  My grandfather always used to say “GREAT, no sense complaining”.  He was right, no one wants a play by play on how bad your day is.  My response, is either “Good and you” or “I’m blessed”.  Choose your words carefully in order to stay upbeat.  Remember negative thoughts bring negative into your Universe

#5  Do the most important things first.

Prioritize your list of things to do.  Start with the one you are dreading the most.  Get it over with.  Then move to the next 1 or 2 things on your to-do list.  Keep your to do list to no more than 3 things.  IF you finish them and want to jump on something else, great.  I don’t know about you but I feel VERY successful when I can check off tasks from my to-do list.

elephant-balance-chiropractic#6  Maintain a good work/life balance.

WOW!  This is one of my biggest problems – I am not good at balancing my time.  We are multi-dimensional people and need to do more than just WORK!  Tough words for a “struggling, recovering addict/work-a-holic”.  Remember the saying “all work and no play makes Jane a dull girl”.  It is TRUE!

Making every day a success means you need to CHANGE your MINDSET to a more positive one.  How do you make every day successful?

Have a ThirtyOne-derful day!

On My Way…..NOT!

Today’s blog post has been re-written many times.  First filled with the excitement of earning the Leadership Incentive trip and heading on a FREE cruise with my daughter.  Then it was about the delayed cruise and spending some time in NC with Belinda.  This morning, I am re-writing again…
The Leadership Incentive Trip has officially been cancelled. Irma entered our lives and changed everything!  No, I don’t mean the cute clothes from LuLa Roe.  I mean the devastating hurricane which is leaving its mark every where it lands.  Devastating the Carribean as it makes it way to Florida and the US.
I will admit, I had a pity party last night.  I long for some quality time with my daughter but sadly if Irma continues on the projected track, they will be in its path.  I have weathered many a hurricane but at the ripe old age of 60, I decided staying home was probably a better idea.
Since the blog posts are already written for the next week while I was supposed to be traveling, I will still be sharing some of my top bog posts from the past.  Some may be tweaked but others will just be “throwbacks” of my most popular ones.  I have been reflecting on the earning period for the Leadership Incentive trip and why I was successful this time when I hadn’t been in the past.
If you are trying to change an aspect of your life, here are some tips which helped me – thank you Patty Lennon

1. Decide to succeed.

There is a goal you are striving for right now which is deeply personal and vital to you. Remove the possibility of NOT succeeding from your mind right now. This means each time you fall down, you get back up because any failure is temporary.  I will say, utilizing this mindset every month has helped me reach my monthly goals even during the dreaded “J” months.

I wanted to earn this trip as a gift for hubby for our 5th wedding anniversary.  I wanted him to experience my “pink bubble” so he would understand why it is so important to me.  So, in my mind success became inevitable. I was no longer willing to NOT succeed. Which leads to …

2. Get Support.

When you are reaching for a goal you have not achieved before whether it’s growing your business to a new level, changing your health or improving your relationships you will do far better if you have help.  Who can support you in achieving your goal?

I have been sharing my monthly goals with everyone – my team, my customers and basically anyone who would listen. They celebrated and encouraged me every step of the way.  When Negative Nellie stopped for a visit, I looked for someone to help me kick her to the curb.

3. Don’t Give Up.

Whatever goal is most important to you right now it is critical you not give up, especially if the goal is related to your business. The truth is most things fail the first time  around especially in business – whether it’s a new message, promotion or marketing campaign. It is NORMAL.  Everyone falls down. Your choice (and the choice which defines those who succeed) is whether you get back up.  Everything is possible when you make the decision to succeed. No matter what happens do not give up!

With my first LIT earned, what is next for me and my business?  I will admit planning for September has been a struggle.  A holiday weekend led into getting ready for a week away.  I was hoping earning the trip would keep me motivated but the truth is, Vacation Veronica is knocked on my door. As I ponder what to do this week, I am setting my goal for September and am working on a plan to earn the Leadership Incentive Trip again next year.

Using these tips has helped me in my business so I am I am going to apply them to my weight loss journey to see what happens.  I am just 7 pounds away from being back at goal weight so it is non-negotiable.  I want to celebrate reaching my goal and not look back.

The truth is “the Divine will light your path with miracles to make it easier as you go.”  Send your positive energy into the Universe.  What is your goal?

Happy Labor Day

The official end of summer.  For many the school year started early, for others it is the last few days before the new school year.

Do you know why we celebrate Labor Day? Honestly, I never really got it. How could I relate to the “labor movement”. WHY was Labor Day created?

Labor Day was created by the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.

Did you know the world of not only direct sales but self-employed individuals is growing every day and making a HUGE impact on the world.  For years, we didn’t think of direct when we thought of the labor or workforce of this country.  We immediately thought about those who tirelessly work everyday to support and provide for their families. I thought about all of the phenomenal women I have met on my Thirty One journey who have been an inspiration to so many.

Our founder, Cindy Monroe, whose vision opened the doors for many to change their own  lives.  These women not only started their own business, reached for the stars and made their dreams come true – they shared the gift with others. As their teams grew, the lives they touched were not only their recruits but their customers, hostesses and their communities. They shared our amazing products and their “WHY” so others could begin to dream. My Sponsor, my Director but most of all my friend, Hope Shortt helped me to see the potential in myself and has encouraged me along the way. Her love and support has helped many of us to strengthen our walk with God so we are able to provide for our families with this “purse gig”. The women on my team who despite personal challenges are overcoming obstacles to provide additional income for their families. Thirty One CELEBRRATES – ENCOURAGES – REWARDS those in the community as well who are not a part of our Thirty One family by giving back in so many ways. Today on Labor Day, let’s celebrate the military who protect us everyday giving their life for our freedom; the company workers who go to work every day to support their families and the entrepreneurs who dreamed BIG and are working to change lives by owning their own business.  Let’s CELEBRATE everyone who works tirelessly to support their families.

The first day of September AND just before the start of a LONG holiday weekend.  Some may be getting ready for a road trip while others are getting their car cleaned out and ready for a new school year.

Here are some tips that may keep your car clean and tidy….

1. Put cupcake wrappers in cup holders for easy clean-up.  Use the silicone ones – they fit perfectly in the cup holders.  Easy clean-up and inexpensive.

2. TWO OPTIONS for keeping food on laps and off the floor.  Either a shower caddy OR a Double Duty Caddy.

4. Forget a $30 phone holder, use a rubber band instead.5. Use a cheap paint brush to dust between vents.

6. Use a squeegee and a water bottle to get rid of unwanted animal hair in your backseats.

7. Sprinkle baking soda on your seats before vacuuming to get rid of any lingering smells.

8. Use an old toothbrush to remove gunk from seats, on dashboard or from cup holders.

9.  Need an easy “small” trash bag for the car? Use the Littles Carry All with those little handle bags that you get from the dollar store or Walmart (to clean up after puppies or put diapers in). Two mini binder clips to hold the bag in place. The handles are great just grab it tie it up and throw it out-nice clean car.d0c426bd10124e1683237f66eadccd74
