Google Door Prize Slips

It is Throwback Thursday!  Just a little something for those of you who thought Thirty One was JUST purses.  This is from the early years!  I am so excited that we are moving back to our roots with Promising Picks….

Door prize slips……. do you use them?  If so, when do you use them?  What do you do with them once you have them?

Traditionally, these slips have been used to obtain information from perspective customers and hostesses at a vendor event.  You entice them with a prize.  Now, they already know that this is a way for you to get their information.  If you are diligent and work your business, chances are whether they win or not, you are going to call them.  You are going to try and build on that initial interaction in the hopes of growing the relationship and booking a party.

Some consultants use them at their home parties as a way to avoid the “dreaded” booking and recruiting conversations.  I know Consultants that NEVER ask guests to book a party at a party. They believe that people are there to enjoy, not be solicited to book their own party PLUS people don’t have their calendar.  Okay, now I know there are a lot of people that will disagree with this BUT it works for these consultants.  Follow-up is the key to their success.

Some use the slips as a drawing for a door prize at their home party.  The results are always the same, you are soliciting information from the guests in the hopes of booking, recruiting or selling to them.  Now you have additional information that will help you when you follow-up with them.

So, what about an online party or a Facebook event, what do you do?  You don’t want to miss out on these contacts.  What if people are invited but don’t order?  You either miss the connection or you are left to connect on Facebook, right?  I wish I could remember where I heard this great idea (probably another amazing idea from Melissa Fietsam) BUT it is AWESOME.  Use Google docs to create a Facebook Door Prize Slip.

Click HERE if you want to see the one that I used at my last Facebook party.  As each person RSVPed, I sent them the form.  It gave me so much information.  I got to find out about their interests – kids, products, shopping, booking a party, fundraising and even joining my team.  It helped when setting up my party to focus on those products.  Just like when you hostess coach and prep for a home party.  Genius, right?

I am going to create an “Enter My Drawing” google form for my VIP Customer group and on my business page.  Every month, I will post it so that visitors can enter the drawing to win.  WHY?  Just because a person says “not on your life” this month, next month may be a totally different story.  Each month, they have a chance to win.  Let them share the form with friends so they get extra entries. A win-win for everyone – they win a prize and you get more contacts.  I will also add it to my round of blogging every month with a picture of the prize!  A GREAT way to expand your circle of contacts, right?

Do you know what day it is????  Not only is it hump day but it is also WOOHOO Wednesday.

I wanted to give a shout out to the Tag Team.  No, I am not talking about wrestling – okay be honest, I am not the only one who used to watch WWE with their daughter, right?  No, this Tag Team is a team of party peeps.  Here is their story:

Rachel Perry and Amanda Holland, both previous direct sellers themselves, were frustrated with the lack of communication and personal touch that seemed to happen with traditional catalog parties. So, they took catalog parties to Facebook. No, this is not a paid advertisement.  I bought the 30-minute Facebook training.  I started to push it aside when they said “make videos” BUT I decided to step out of my comfort zone.  I spent a few hours making some vides – a Welcome to the Party, two why videos (why you should party with me and my WHY), the top 5 Thirty One products, and then a thank you and the announcement of the winners.  The longest video was the Top 5 products but the rest were an average of 1 – 2 minutes long.  They are rough but I have to admit, I enjoyed making them.  I am excited to make some more and to start “talking” to people via video for Facebook parties as well as through other social media.

I know, you want to know the results, right?  I left the party open for just 24 hours, as recommended, and the result was a $200 party (with some pre-orders).  A $200 party that I wasn’t expecting.  The truth is that was my goal.  Crazy, right?  Well, I did a Door Prize slip via Google (a blog for another day) and those who were attending simply wanted to look and had no intention of buying.  So, a $200 party was pretty good, right for a lot of lookers.

Will I be doing it again?  YES!  I have already put a Summer Retirement Party on the calendar. CLICK to join in the fun on July 9th.  I won’t be relying on Facebook for ALL of my parties because we know the BEST party is a home party, right?  When there are time crunches like summer or vacations or there is just no time in your schedule to book a party – this helps to fill the gap.

Be Prepared

When I hear this question, I have a flashback to my days as a Girl Scout Brownie.  I could say that my “S” personality developed back then when my focus was on helping others.  I didn’t make it far in Girl Scouts but I always remember the saying “be prepared”.

What about you are you prepared in your business?

The truth is that “Be Prepared” should be your motto.  Imagine getting a last minute phone from someone who wants you to be at their house in an hour for a impromptu party.  I know that is what we all dream of, right?  Would you be ready to head out the door? What if a fellow team member had an emergency,could you step in to do their party?  Do these thoughts make you sweat?  Do you cringe thinking of the 1000 things you need to do to prep for a party?

Could you head out the door?  Would your bags be packed and ready to go?  Could you walk out the door after a quick change of clothes (or not) and do a home party?

If the answer to these questions are a resounding NO, then you need to get it together.  Your party display should always be packed.  Your customer folders should be prepped with the current flyers.  Your hostess packets should be ready with all of the materials for your future hostess.  I know, you are wondering how is this possible if you just had a party and your life is crazy busy, right?  Honestly, my display bag is always ready.  It may not be packed just so after a party but I could pick it up and go quickly.  I always have extra hostess and guest packets ready just in case I use them all at a party.

Now imagine this: You are out shopping with your kids, heading to the car using all of your Thirty One products.  Someone stops you and asks about your bags.  Will you have mini catalogs in your purse?  Will you have a hostess packet in your car?  Would you have product in your car if they wanted to see something?  Will you remember to get their information to contact them?

First of all, if you aren’t using your products on a daily basis you are missing out on an AWESOME marketing opportunity.  If I am carrying a purse, you will find a zipper pouch full of mini catalogs, 2 full size catalogs, recruiting information,  a kids out and about bag, “enter my drawing” slips to get their information and the current sale flyer.  When I switch purses, that zipper pouch is always with me.  If I am just using a wristlet, I will at least have business cards and a mini catalog.  My car is now stocked with catalogs, order forms, sale flyers, pens, etc.  Was it always? No but I didn’t want to NOT be prepared.  I use the Hang Up Activity Center to hold everything and it is easy to access.

So, will you “BE PREPARED” the next time an opportunity comes to share your business?  That opportunity to could be a customer, a hostess or even your next Rockstar team member.
