Today is Frugal Fun Day. Now, it is not an “international” or “national” holiday although maybe it should be, right?
Frugal Fun Day is a special day created by Shel Horowitz, author of The Penny-Pinching Hedonist: How to Live Like Royalty with a Peasant’s Pocketbook. Although the day was probably created to promote his book…it really is a great reminder that there is FREE or inexpensive FUN activities.
Frugal Fun Day is a day to enjoy fun activities that are free (or very inexpensive). If you use your imagination, the ideas are endless. Here are a few that came to mind for me:
- Go for a walk or a bike ride. The fall leaves are mazing
- Head to the beach for a nice walk – best time of year with no “shoobies“
- Have a movie afternoon with some of your favorite videos or CDs
- Pull out the board games stacked in the closet for some friendly competition
- Read a book
- Write your Bucket list

No matter what you decide to do, have FUN! By fun I want you to be frivolous. I want you to do things that have no other value other than making you laugh or feel good. You see, when we’ve got lots and lots and lots of stuff to do, fun is quickly sacrificed. Yet what replenishes our energy and life force more than fun? So what are YOU going to do today to have fun?
Here’s wishing you a very ThirtyOne-derful Frugal Fun Day.
