Happy Throwback Thursday!   I love seeing all of the retired Thirty One prints and products.  It reminds me how far we have come.

No, this is not a pitch to get you to join my team – although we do know what an AMAZING $99 deal it is.

Today, we are going to  talk about finding our “ideal team members”.   Building a team is the best way to increase your paycheck in direct sales, right?  No, I don’t mean those pyramid schemes but where you CELEBRATE – ENCOURAGE – REWARD your team to reach their goals.

Are you constantly complaining that your team is unmotivated, draining, and frustrating? Do you wish that your team met their goals?  Do you wish that your team were more engaging?  Guess what – if you are focusing on the things you don’t want – you are actually attracting those same kind of recruits.  As a result, you are going to get more unmotivated, draining, frustrating team members in other words kitnappers.  It’s a simple fact that you get what you focus on. So if you don’t have the direct sales team of your dreams, you are responsible for that.

So, how do we change that, right?  I mean we all want a team that wants leadership, meets all of their personal goals and works as a team player to help us meet team goals, right?

It all goes back to The Secret and speaking what we do want into the Universe.  So let’s decide what you want and not focus on what you don’t want, shall we? This is a short exercise courtesy of JulieAnne Jones.  Take a moment and do this short training exercise.

First of all, ask yourself the question, “Who is my ideal team member?”

Here’s a list of some adjectives to get you started:

  • Motivated
  • Happy
  • Positive
  • Smart
  • Creative
  • Invested
  • A Self Starter
  • Serious
  • Peaceful
  • Caring
  • Fun
  • Great Sense of Humor
  • Reliable
  • Dependable
  • Helpful

Now, sit down, clear your mind, get focused.  Make a list with at least five adjectives that best describe your ideal team member.  Be honest with yourself because this list highlights your ideal potential recruit.

Now read over the list that you just created. Would you say those words describe YOU? Of course, they do.  So, here’s the point. When you’re truly showing up at your best, the energy you’re putting out will attract others like you…at your best. It’s really that simple.

So, how do we change the energy flow?  The key is to get your thoughts, feelings, and actions lined up so you’ll begin attracting those amazing people into your direct sales business. Here’s the process…

Print out the list you made and put it up on the wall in your office. Start thinking about all of these attributes and how you can manifest them in your own business (this is the “thoughts” part of the equation).

Sit down, close your eyes, and imagine what it would feel like to be working with an entire room full of these ideal team members. Just feel the feelings of what it would be like to lead a team of outstanding individual who exemplified those characteristics (the second part of this equation).

Now visualize yourself standing in front of a huge team with all of those traits at your next team meeting. This is the third part of the process and the visualization can literally take only 30 to 90 seconds.

Take about two minutes at the beginning and ending of each day to read over the list and then close your eyes and walk through your visualization.

We want to make this a habit right? So, I want you to do this visualization every day for the next 30 days, twice a day. Then pay attention to the people, circumstances, and opportunities that begin to show up in your life and business.   The most important key  is that you are going to TAKE ACTION on those opportunities!

The formula is simple and can work on anything that you decide to focus on. Attracting what you want is a simple as this three step system  of Think/Feel/Act. Who is ready to find their ideal recruit?

Home Party Burnout

Throwback Thursday… YES, these were all in the early Thirty One catalogs. Consultants brought boutique shopping to those who didn’t have the time or the money to shop in those cute little shops.  I am so glad that we are heading back to our roots…

Here we are in another “J” month.  I have heard from my team as well as other consultants – no one wants to party.  They are too busy, there are too many DS party plan companies and everyone is on home party burnout.  Really?

Is it that our potential hostesses are in “home party burnout” mode or is it you? Have you exhausted your circle of friends and family?  Have you moved out of your comfort zone to talk with other people about hosting or your fabulous products?  Are you excited or have you gotten bored with your parties and product?  Do you still have an emotional connection to your why?

Maybe it is YOU that has “home party burnout”!  Let’s be honest, if you were a guest, would you book a party with you? I remember the first time I was challenged to answer that question.  WOW!  I had to think long and hard about it.  We are usually toughest on ourselves but if the answer is NO, then it is time to re-visit your hostess coaching and your party presentation.  I have tried many different styles of party presenting – some fun, lots of games, open house, script, no script, everyone else’s script.  The truth was that I have tried so many things over the last year or so, I wasn’t sure what style I was most comfortable with anymore.  I thought back to my BEST parties, maybe not the biggest sales but the ones where everyone had fun (including me)!  What about you, think about that party?  What were the things that made it the best?

If you have been doing the same thing and are feeling a little bored, the summer is a great time to try something NEW.  Something that will excite YOU and your guests.  Maybe a trunk party.

How about a BINGO night.

Get creative – people are busy and the kids are out of school.  You may need to find a new way to lock in those parties.  If you can flex your schedule – a Saturday morning at the park, a lunchtime office party, coffee (drinks) after work for about an hour – do it!  Maybe a summer theme party.

Remember, you never know when your next awesome opportunity is going to arrive, so pull up your boot straps (errr, big girl panties) and remember all the reasons why we do this business. And remember – absolute WORST case scenario….the party is a complete bust- you have some “girl time” with the hostess and make a few new friends.

Manifesting Magnets

It is Throwback Thursday!  This is from a Thirty One Leaders training held about 2 years ago.  Cindy Monroe joined us in the afternoon and NO, I didn’t cry this time when I met her.  What an AWESOME day!

I have been reading (and re-reading The Secret) as well as getting the daily teachings on my phone.  Do you use Manifesting Magnets?  I have become obsessed with them, in a good way.

It is all about ASKING, BELIEVING and RECEIVING all that the universe has for us.  In the past, I was great at asking but when it came to truly believing in my core, well that wasn’t happening.  Did I mention that I am not great at receiving BUT awesome at giving?  I know there are a lot more of you out there like that, right?

Some have not read The Secret, but I have heard them talk about manifesting magnets which is along the some line.  You are using your focus and energy to bring positive results.  Maybe you are looking for money, opportunity, love, or harmony.  Whatever your desire, you can manifest it (ask for it).  Do you think that I am crazy?  Are you saying “I keep asking for  XYZ and nothing happens”?  Remember it is a 3-step process not just 1!

I came across these  3 manifesting magnets:

1.      Put a gratitude alarm on your phone that says “What am I grateful for right now?”  (gratitude is the gateway to positive manifesting)

2      Decide every day to do 1 small thing for someone else  (you instantly align yourself with positive flow when you do)

3.     Choose an empowering image and use it as the wallpaper on your phone, tablet and computer (this creates a trigger to put you in a state of positive vibration and manifestation)

These 3 simple steps have power in them.  By building manifesting magnets into your life, you will open the flow to your desire.  By doing these simple things, you will also actually start to BELIEVE that your desire will come to fruition.

The last step is to be ready to receive the blessings.  A fierce cheerleader, Eryka Peskin, gave me a great tip that I have been practicing ALOT.  When someone pays me a compliment, I say “thank you, it is true”.  Does it sound cocky?  To some it might.  The reality is that is how I am learning to RECEIVE and BELIEVE at the same time.    I mean how many of you receive a compliment, say thank you BUT truly don’t believe what the person has said. OR you counter it with “thank you BUT”.  STOP!  You are manifesting negativity instead of positivity.  I know it isn’t easy.   Believe me it has taken me weeks.  It can happen though and when it does, you will be amazed at how you feel.

So, set the alarm on your phone (for random times if possible).  Do something nice for someone each day.  Post that picture of what you want where you will see it all of the time.  Don’t just post the picture and glance at it.  Take a moment to actually FEEL what it will be like to have that item.  For me, it is a check – some extra unexpected cash for National Conference and a short trip to see my daughter.  I believe that it will come.

I have the power in me to make it happen and so do you!  What is your desire?  Have you asked the Universe for it? Do you believe that it will come? And are you ready to receive it when it does?

Throwback Thursday,,,,,

WOW!  Thirty One had lots of different gifts in the early years.  The picture of Cindy Monroe and I was taken at my Celebrate and Connect as a NEW Director with Thirty One.  It was actually Spring Premiere in Pennsylvania.  That picture was quickly taken before the flood gates opened and I was overwhelmed by emotion.  Cindy was wonderful despite the tears rolling down my cheeks.

I had flashbacks – the good kind – while cleaning off the shelves in my office.  I was running out of room with lots of binders full of training information from the last 3 years.  WOW!  You know those binders you create when you are training but then never really look at again.

It was great reminiscing and seeing how far I have come in my journey with Thirty One.  There was even notes from that “life changing” coaching call with Hope Shortt when I connected with my emotional why to promote to Director.  I was a sponge back then.  Reading everything that I could get my hands on.  When did I find the time?  I stuck to the basics (book, sell, recruit) knowing that in the end God would provide.  

I found my first DISC profile when I didn’t even understand what the results meant personally or to my business.  I was an “S” then and I am still an “S”.  I guess that never changes which is okay with me.  I LOVE being family-oriented, loyal and easy going.

I found my CORE value top 5 which are the same today as they were then: Family, Faith, Health, Charity, Finances.  What are YOUR core values?

I found my Gift Assessment which I did in March of 2013.  My Primary Gifts were: Culture and Help.  Reading over the explanations of these gifts, I was reminded of how I grew my business.  I was able to create a culturally diverse team by attracting a wide range of people with different ethnic and religious backgrounds.  My strong desire to help other people achieve their goals and dreams has lead to consistency from 95% of my team.  My secondary gift was Connection which is all about building relationships.  A gentle reminder that when I am true to myself, relationships develop and my business will flourish.

My favorite is the Love Language Profile.  My primary love language is “words of affirmation”.  I was skeptical about this test but once I did it, I totally understood why “kind, encouraging and positive words” sent my spirits skyward.  If you haven’t done this, check it out and then share the results with your spouse and even your boss.

What did this trip down memory lane teach me?  First, doing training and then letting it sit on the shelf doesn’t help but I think that one was a no brainer.  The real lesson is to take the skills learned and incorporate them in my business.  Knowing my core values along with my gifts and my personality assessment will help me to stay focused and grounded in the things that are important to me.  When I do that, my business will soar.

Promising Picks

For all of those who are wondering… YES, the pillows are available through Thirty One Gifts.  They are part of the “Promising Picks” collection.  I have been blessed with the opportunity to share this collection with my customers.  There are about 7% of Thirty One consultants nationwide who have been given this chance to share with you.

The purpose of the “Promising Picks” collection to see what products our customers would like to see in future Thirty One catalogs.  I know many of you are thinking “I thought Thirty One was purses and totes”.  The answer is YES, we are BUT we are so much more.

If you go back to the early years of Thirty One Gifts when Cindy Monroe started the company, you will see there were actually very few purses.  We were all about gift items – candles, jewelry, ceramics and more.  I love hearing how Cindy traveled to a hostess home and set up a boutique.  She brought along some shelves and products given guests a unique opportunity to shop.  It was all about sharing the AWESOME products with passion and enthusiasm.  Check out some of these Throwback Thursday pictures to see some of things offered by Thirty One Gifts in the past.
