Stop Asking

GYGB
Every morning in addition to my devotions, I get a message from “Get Your Girl Back Movement” which always manages to be just what I need to hear.  Check out their website and get YOUR own words of encouragement.  This was today’s…

You can do it Hope and if you couldn’t, God would not have given you the dream in the first place. If you would have put as much time into your dream as you do questioning yourself and your ability it would have already been accomplished. Now- stop asking and go make your dream come true!

As the last five days have been crazy busy – work (you know that part-time WaWa job), getting ready and hosting Celebrate and Connect plus hostess coaching and closing parties – I am feeling just a tad overwhelmed.  Oh, did I mention that I had an interview for a different part-time job (less standing on my feet and more consistent hours).  I almost forgot – spending time with hubby, laundry & attempting to clean (okay, so the due bunnies are safe for a little while longer).  You get the picture.

When I have a week like this, I start to wonder what God is trying to tell me and then Doubtful Debbie pays a visit.  I get tired because I haven’t found a way to balance (or juggle) in the midst of all of the craziness.  My dreams seem to get farther away – the one of NOT having to work a part-time job at all! Then I get the message “STOP QUESTIONING YOURSELF”.  I know I am not alone, right?   I am sure that some are tired of hearing (or reading) about this ongoing struggle but I hope that at least one person is helped by my ongoing struggle to know that they are not alone.

So, what am I going to do today – PLAN the rest of the week finding time to do all that needs to be done.  PRIORITIZE what needs to be done so that I focus on “money making” tasks and not just tasks.  That is it!  Nothing major.  No HUGE projects.  Just set a schedule for every money making task and stick to it – that includes the pink bag calls to my customers.  Sounds simple enough.

What are YOU questioning yourself about?  Do you have a dream that gets pushed to the side sometime when life gets too busy? Or are you like me and when that happens, you begin to doubt your dream?  As of today, I am going to stop asking AND make my dream come true.  Who is with me??

Have a ThirtyOne-derful day!

WW Check In

UGH!  Tomorrow is my first weigh in at Weight Watchers in THREE weeks….I know you are probably thinking, she made Lifetime so now she thinks she has this, right?  Well, truth be told there was probably that little voice in the back of my head that was saying it.  I have been fighting it for three weeks.

Life got in the way of going to my meeting – work and a vacation in North Carolina seemed to take precedent over connecting with my WW peeps.  Not a good thing for me.  See, I need to remember that at any moment, I can be right back where I started – okay, so maybe not gaining 108 pounds back but you know what I mean.

I stopped tracking.  Working part-time at WaWa has changed the way that I eat at night.  I went from a multi-grain sizzle (5 points) to an egg white omelet sandwich (8 points) and with fruit (0 points) or a Chobani flip (4 points).  I picked up that dreaded donut (12 points) because on the way home, at 11PM or midnight, I was hungry.  Do you see where I am going with this?  If it only stopped with these points, it would be okay but it doesn’t.  I have been drinking diet soda instead of water at work.  I have been snacking on those dreaded mini peanut butter cups – you know the ones by the register!

To top it all off, hubby is liking the idea of going out to lunch on the days that we work.  That means either Taylor Sam’s where I could have a nice salad (or one of the many vegetarian specials) or the Diner where I have my usual egg white omelet with hash browns.  I know why am I confessing all of this in my blog??? I need a reality check!!

I got on the scale at home for the first in about a week only to see the numbers slowly creeping up – just touching the top of my “WW range”.  I am NOT a happy camper.  So, today, I pulled out my tracker and am getting back on track.  Tomorrow is just a test to see where I am with my official monthly weigh in next week.  I definitely don’t want to be over and have to pay! That would be such a waste and it would definitely send me over the edge.

They are right, maintenance is hard.  I do make better choices BUT there are those times when I say “it won’t hurt”.  Too many of those “it won’t hurt days” and I it DEFINITELY WILL HURT!  I will face the music tomorrow and no matter what – I will NOT pay next week when it comes to weigh in.

Looking for some tips on how to stay on track at work.  I thought it would be easier – NOT!

Have a ThirtyOne-derful day!

Personal Causes

Happy Memorial Day!

For some today is an extra day off.  For others it is spending time with family and friends in an effort to kick off the summer season…Today is really about remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Those who gave their lives so that we might live in freedom. It is also about celebrating the lives of those who dedicated themselves to serving our country and who returned home to their families.

LUT camo

I hate to say this but I was never one to really think about what this holiday really meant UNTIL my best friends husband was deployed as part of Operation Freedom.  It was then that I found myself really understanding the sacrifices made not only my our military men and women but those of their families.

Being a part of Thirty One, I have had the pleasure of meeting many military wives and I blessed to be a part of a company that gives back on a variety of levels.  Not only does Thirty One ship to APO/FPO but they also donate product and funds to support our troops across the country.

Working in WaWa part-time, I have come to know more men who have been in the military as well as those who are now serving.  I love being able to thank them for their service to our country in a small way – even if it is with just FREE cup of coffee.

There is also another GREAT way to help our military families with coupons – current and expired (less than 3 months old). Did you know that military families can use coupons in the PX that are up to 6 months past the expiration date?  I have been working with the Cranford VFW for some time to collect expired (and current) coupons to share with our military families across the country.  A small thing that means so much to them.

As you are out and about today, if you see some of these courageous men and women.  Thank them for their sacrifices to ensure that we live in a country that is free.

Are YOU Doing What YOU LOVE

It is Wednesday – HUMP DAY for many. How many of you are DREADING the rest of the work week?  Are you already longing for the weekend?  I LOVE Wednesdays (even Mondays) AND I don’t mind going to work.  I know that I always slip into that work-a-holic mood but is it really work if you LOVE it?  I saw a blog that gave a checklist for figuring out if you truly LOVE what you do so let’s see how YOU do…

First upNever a dull day!  Okay, my days are anything but boring.  I do sometimes struggle with what to do first because I have so many ideas going through my head.  I may not always get up early but when I have to and haven’t had much sleep – I jump out of bed ready to go.  Last minute parties – of course.  Last minute fundraiser – wouldn’t miss doing it.  Late night calls with forgotten orders – bring it on!

Meetings? Love them! Okay, so being the center of attention at a meeting is NOT where I like to be but I do love to CELEBRATE – ENCOURAGE – REWARD my fellow Thirty One sisters at my bi-monthly Celebrate and Connect meetings.  I love leading discussions that help others to grow their business.

Inspiration is around the corner.  I LOVE sharing my passion for Thirty One with others.  I LOVE being around other Thirty One consultants who are smart, confident, funny, giving and dedicated.  They each inspire me in their own way to be better and to reach for the stars.

Work = part of life.  You enjoy life and work. You feel alive and joyful not just at home but also at your desk. When you love your work, it’s a part of your life.  I think this says it all.

S0 much to explore!  When you love your work, it’s like peeling an onion. There are always more layers to discover and explore. When you hate your work it’s also like peeling an onion – but all you find are more tears.  Are you discovering or are you shedding tears?

You hardly ever look at the clock.  This is definitely me.  I can get lost in my office working on incentives, hostess gifts, booking parties and more.  You know the say “time flies when you are having fun” well it does for me!

So what is the result of this check list for YOU?  Do you LOVE what you do or are you just working to pay the bills?  Don’t get me wrong, I do the same thing – I mean, the bill collectors want their money but I enjoy all of it.  I LOVE my Thirty One business and I even enjoy my part-time gig at WaWa – imagine that. Want to know more about my Thirty One business and how it might be able to change YOUR life, just ask.

If you don’t LOVE what you do, maybe it is time for a change.  Life is too short to wait for “it” to come so you can retire and enjoy life.  Why not enjoy it NOW!

Have a ThirtyOne-derful day!

Hope Wissel, Weigh to Goal

Maintenance

Good Morning – I believe that Spring has finally arrived.

I haven’t talked about my weight loss journey since I got that magical piece of paper from the doctor and gave it to my favorite Weight Watcher leaders.  It is always a work in progress but I have to admit “maintenance” might be harder than the weight loss journey.

By definition, maintenance is “the process of maintaining or preserving someone or something, or the state of being maintained“.  So, at Weight Watchers the six weeks of maintenance AFTER you reach your goal weight is about protecting the weight that you have lost.  Oh, did I mention that they want you to ADD points to your weekly amount that help you do that.  WHAT???  I know over the last 6 years of this journey, the weight loss plan has changed and I have continued to loose or have maintained my current weight but really ADD points.  To me, that was almost like saying “you can stop tracking” or “eat until you are full”.  UGH!  The scale has been a roller coaster since hitting that magical number.

First, I was under which was fine by me.  I was on a high thinking that I might actually reach the Weight Watcher goal weight or would have to get a new script from the doctor.  Then came some stress, crazy busy weeks and the scale has started to creep up.  I missed last week’s weigh in because of an event so that was almost like a free pass.  This past week has been filled with busy hours and not tracking.  The result, I am sure when I get on the scale this AM at Weight Watchers is that I will be UP.  Still within that 2 pound range of goal but up.  Back to tracking and on a mission to find some healthy foods on the nights that I work at WaWa.  Yes, they have salads.  Yes, there are better choices but it seems like I don’t make them.  It is almost like my brain says – you are earning activity points so it doesn’t matter. WOW!  Is that so untrue!!! It definitely does not give me permission to eat a donut at 11pm when I get off work.  YES, they are fresh and taste yummy but they are definitely NOT worth the extra pounds that they could come as a result of continuing to eat them.

I am noticing that I am saying “BUT” a lot in this post.  I remember reading some place that “anything you say after the word “but” is a lie” or is BS.  Excuses, that is what they are; just another excuse to do what I want, when I want.  The truth is, I am not ready to give up everything that I worked for along this 108 pound weight loss journey.  So, maintenance is TOUGH and I believe it is even tougher the original journey.

Today, I will suck it up.  Get back to tracking.  Attend a meeting and weigh in facing all of the ugliness that the scale has to offer me.  Reaching goal weight is AWESOME – maintaining is not as easy as it sounds.

Have a ThirtyOne-derful day!
